The Wesdrift Marriott in Manhattan Beach was undergoing a major remodel to give it a more boutique look and feel. As a result, it is now a part of the Autograph Collection, a curated group of hotels around the world that are unique in design and display a great attention to detail in every aspect of hospitality. The Westdrift blends “East Coast bold with West Coast cool” in a way that gives off a luxurious, yet casual vibe.

As part of the remodel, the Wesdrift Manhattan Beach also wanted to upgrade their existing audio video systems in the hotel’s conference centers, ballrooms, and public spaces. The end result was an AV system that combines ease-of-use with the type of functionality that’s expected in a high-end hotel.

Fluid Sound was tasked with modernizing the hotel’s legacy conference and public address system, while creating a new, operator-friendly control system touch interface. We were to design the system with room combining functionality that would allow for the flexible use of the hotel’s meeting spaces, and install a modern AV presentation system in multiple conference centers, ballrooms, meeting spaces, and public spaces.
Solution
Our team designed and installed an AV system that is controlled by a custom Crestron control system. Individual touch screens in each of the conference center rooms provide room combining functionality. Custom microphone and audio input wall plates and large format ceiling speakers were installed in the ballrooms and conference centers. A background music system with networked digital signal processing and audio amplifiers were installed in the hotel’s public spaces.
The end result was an AV system that combines ease-of-use with the type of functionality that’s expected in a high-end hotel.
