Fitness HospitalityBuilding-wide centralized audiovisual system for a luxury MDU development
The Q Topanga is considered one of the most sought after luxury apartment communities to live in the Los Angeles’ Woodland Hill neighborhood within the San Fernando Valley. Featuring stunning finishes paired with smart home technology, each home is where style meets function coming together offering a fresh, innovative approach to elevated community living. The ownership and operations group are so concerned about the guest satisfaction that they have resident experience managers whose job is to ensure that guests are being treated to resort-style living, — overseeing the smallest details, including managing the property-wide AV system.

With the successful audio video design and installation of the 1st Q Variel luxury apartment project, Fluid Sound was back for the 2nd Q concept at Topanga to provide another building-wide centralized audio video system for the public spaces within the entire Multi Dwelling Unit apartment community utilizing hdmi-over-IP technology.

Challenge
Fluid Sounds was tasked with building out an affordable, flexible, and easily controlled AV-over-IP system. A traditional video and audio distribution solution would have required lengthy cable runs from every screen to source. It was an approach that was far too expensive, laborious, and un-scalable should the owners want to add more screens or sources in the future.g and automation. One of the primary concern was to also build out an affordable, flexible, and easily controlled AV-over-IP system that the managers could efficiently command from within the build and remotely, while offsite as well.
Solution
The AV deployment is installed across all eight floors, including communal lounges, two-story gym, private dining room, screening room, offices, valet stand, and small conference rooms.
The control system allows the building managers to control the system intuitively from wired Crestron TSW Series touch-panels, wirelessly using iPad tablets as well as remotely offsite as well . Presets & scheduling has been programmed to allow the managers to quickly set up the building, selecting the video and audio sources and setting the volumes and automate presets so that the whole building changes at a particular time of day and in different zones.
This project includes:
- 14 touch panels throughout the facility for audiovisual control
- 23 different audio zones with audio signal sent of a Dante digital audio signal network
- 18 different TV displays and video projector endpoints utilizing Just-add-Power AV over IP transmitters and receivers over the AV network infrastructure.
