The Plaza Theatre is the home of The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies, a Ziegfeld Follies-style dance and musical review that runs from November to mid-May. The show is unique in that it only features performers 55 and older and holds the Guinness World Record for this claim to fame. The show has often been credited with helping revitalize and maintain the downtown area by bringing in patrons from around the globe to Palm Springs.

The Plaza Theatre brought Fluid Sound in to help modernize the historic entertainment venue. Our team was able to give the venue a seamless, state-of-the-art video wall to serve as a dynamic backdrop for The Follies stage shows. This project was named the winner of a DIGI Award for “Best Deployment, Entertainment” by Digital Signage Magazine.

Challenge
The Plaza Theatre owners requested a custom video wall solution for their venue that could be used as a large format digital signage display to enhance their live shows. It would replace the use of static theater backdrops during performances. A tight space to work in, and an even tighter timeline, added to the complexity of this project.
Solution
The Fluid Sound team designed and installed a video wall using 25 NEC Ultra-Narrow Professional Large Screen displays with Video Wall and Tile Matrixing technology in a 5×5 configuration. The result was a seamless digital canvas that provides reliable performance for the venue’s shows.
