The next level in luxury cinema and dining can now be found in downtown La Jolla. “Fancy” may be an understatement. THE LOT is a $17 million-plus, seven movie theater venue with stadium seating, plush leather seats, and in-movie food service. THE LOT also features an expansive dining room, a breakfast café, and a lounge with a full bar.

The high-end movie theater complex needed an AV system to complement the luxurious environment of the venue, and that’s exactly what they got! A video wall, digital signage, and a high-end sound system all contribute to the guest experience and fit seamlessly within the venue’s décor. In addition, the venue’s employees are able to easily control all aspects of the venue’s systems, including audio, video, lighting, and HVAC.

THE LOT’s owners approached Fluid Sound to design a high-end audio video system for the public area of their new entertainment venue in La Jolla. They also requested total system integration of the venue’s AV system, lighting, HVAC system, and security system, and a WiFi infrastructure.
Solution
Fluid Sound installed a3x3 video wall using NEC Ultra-Narrow Large Screen displays, as well as NEC 40” displays, mounted in a portrait orientation for digital signage purposes. In the bar lounge, Danley floor standing subwoofers were used, along with JBL high-ceiling format loudspeakers in the bar and restaurant areas, to give the venue a nightclub-style sound system. A Crestron control system with scheduling and BACnet/IP control integration provides venue employees with a way to easily manage the lighting, HVAC, and AV system from a wireless Apple iPad. Ruckus Zoneflex Wireless Access Points and a ZoneDirector controller were used to create and manage the WiFi network.
