Local favorite Phil’s BBQ recently added Temecula as their ninth restaurant location. The restaurant owners wanted the technology and overall customer experience to stand above and beyond other restaurants and sports bars, just like their food does. The brand new restaurant features a large bar and dining areas to accommodate the large game day crowds.
Fluid Sound designed an AV system with both the customer and the restaurant operator in mind. The large jumbotron, which can be viewed from anywhere in the restaurant, provides the “wow” factor, and the scrolling sports ticker displays real-time information of what’s happening in the world of sports. The restaurant operator is able to easily control all aspects of the AV system, and the top-of-the-line audio video system can be easily replicated at future Phil’s BBQ locations to help keep costs down.

Challenge
The owners of Phil’s BBQ wanted their new Temecula location to have an audio video system that aligns with their other locations, with control interfaces that are consistent from restaurant to restaurant. They also wanted a large jumbotron that would stand out as the centerpiece to the bar area, and that would give customers that “wow” reaction when they walk through the doors.
Solution
Fluid Sound installed a Crestron-backed audio video control system with iPad control integration. Just-Add-Power AV over IP video transmitters and receivers were used to route the DirecTV receivers to the commercial-grade NEC displays. A breathtaking jumbotron was custom designed with multiple NEC displays, so that wherever customers are in the restaurant, they have a great view of the game. Customers can view the latest sports scores and information on the scrolling LED sports ticker.
The audio system consists of BSS digital audio signal processors with Crown Audio digital amplifiers and JBL loudspeakers utilizing BLU Link digital audio bus to keep both the distribution of audio and video in the digital realm. The end user can manage all systems from a wireless Apple iPad or a hard-wired Crestron touch panel.
