EntertainmentAV over IP Installation for Restaurant and Sports Bar in San Diego
Phil’s BBQ is a much-loved restaurant and sports bar, with locations throughout Southern California, including in the San Diego International Airport and Petco Park. They have built a solid reputation with their loyal customers based on the quality of their food and their friendly service. BBQ connoisseurs love the restaurant’s made-from-scratch BBQ rubs and sauces.
The 13-year-old Point Loma location recently underwent a $1.25 million renovation. The bar was completely redesigned and the dining area was expanded to accommodate more customers. The overall look and feel of the restaurant was modernized, and more energy-efficient equipment was installed. Along with structural renovations, the audio video system was also due for an overhaul to bring it into the 21st century. AV over IP technology was implemented for the distribution of audio and video content throughout the restaurant and bar, and an easy-to-use touch screen and Apple iPad control the audio, video, and HVAC systems.

Challenge
The owners of Phil’s BBQ requested that the 13-year-old audiovisual system be redesigned from top to bottom to make the Point Loma location a more feature-rich and cutting-edge restaurant with regard to audio visual technology.
Solution
AV over IP transmitters and receivers from Just Add Power were used to route any of the multiple DirecTV receivers to any of the commercial-grade NEC TVs using a standard ethernet network. A BSS digital audio signal processor with Crown Audio digital amplifiers and JBL loudspeakers provide amazing sound quality throughout the restaurant and bar. A scrolling LED sports ticker displays the latest updates in the world of sports. The entire audiovisual system, as well as the HVAC system, can be managed from a wireless Apple iPad or a hard-wired Crestron touch screen.
