Challenge
The leadership at Edwards Lifesciences wanted an in-house video production solution to record, edit, and produce various types of videos that could then be shared with their global offices and help them engage with their employees worldwide. They needed a system that was easy to use and with a low learning curve, so their internal team could manage and edit the recordings.
Solution
The various studio microphones and other audio inputs are first routed through a Yamaha TF-Rack digital mixing console, which is controlled via an Apple iPad. All HD and 4K video and audio is then routed into the heart of the video production studio, which is the NewTek TriCaster TC1—a multi-source sound and video mixing console that produces professional live and recorded content in HD or ultra-high-definition 4K video.
The video production system has also been designed to integrate a campus-wide video production environment. Video feeds from other meeting and conference spaces on their campus can be brought into the production studio using a live video-over-IP production technology called NDI. This allows Edwards to utilize their existing computer ethernet network to livestream and record video sources from any location in their facility.
