Facility: TCL Theatre Box
Location: San Diego, CA
Challenge: Theater management approached Fluid Sound for design and installation of a custom video wall solution that was to be mounted in a mosiac, 45 degree pattern as opposed to a traditional 2×2 or 3×3 video wall. The location of the Video Wall also posed a challenge as the area was directly above an escalator, so a special articulating boom lift was required to access the remote & isolated area to mount the displays to the wall.
The Client also desired a “finished look” for the monitors that were to mounted in front of each auditorium entrance, which would provide digital signage content and a marque of the current movie playing in that specific auditorium.
Solution: Eight NEC 75″ C Series ultra high definition (4k UHD) commercial displays and a tvONE CORIOmaster mini 4K Multi-Window Video Wall processor were selected to allow the client to display 4K images in the lobby area. A Peerless, “special purpose video wall mount” was selected to allow the displays to articulate outward for servicing and to be rotated at a 45 degree angle. Peerless surface mounted kiosk enclosures were also used at each auditorium entrances for their digital signage needs.
Press & Media Coverage: Peerless-AV, the company that provided the rotating & articulating video wall mounts, highlighted the project in a case study on their website. In it, they discuss the unique mounting, installation and timeline challenges where accomplished while delivering a video wall solution that met or exceeded all of the organization’s expectations for picture quality, price, flexibility.
